Confirmed - China's new ring-shaped space engine promises to be a game-changer in the exploration of the universe

More and more companies and organizations are becoming aware of the need to implement changes in their production models and, therefore, emissions and environmental pollution. In the case of the automotive sector, the main direction that companies have taken is to orient their production towards electric motors, to offer hybrid or 100% sustainable products with electrical energy.

Companies such as Tesla are the leaders in this sector, while others like BorgWarner have decided to join forces with Chinese companies, in order to provide them with materials. It is not usual to see agreements in sectors with such competitive production policies, which also has a positive aspect for the consumer, as well as representing an economic increase for companies.

 A carbon-neutral future

Increasingly, companies in whatever sector they are advocating for their production policies to be redirected towards more environmentally sustainable ways, leaving the use of fossil fuels behind. It is a strategy applied in both production and marketing, as it is the new trend of the markets. The most effective way to carry out this change in the motor vehicle sector is the production of electric motors.
There is no doubt that there is a production leader on the market; the company Tesla. Being a pioneer in this sector, now sees how other companies join this model of manufacture.

How much for an EV vehicle?

For Tesla, the production of this model of engines has meant a fairly high entry price to the electric sector for the consumer. Since it is no longer the only game in town, will have to apply changes as soon as their niche market. If you really want to reach the entire population, you have to launch products that are affordable for everyone. Not only that, but it is necessary an improvement in the infrastructures at a global level, increasing the number of load points, since it is one of the weak points and what most mistrust and rejection creates in the consumer.

Competition or collaboration?

Although it is not common, in recent times we have seen how companies, far from confronting each other in an uncertain future scenario, have decided to pool their forces and launch joint projects. This is the case of the company Borgwarner, which has become an electric motor supplier for three Chinese companies, of which the electric motor market is 27%.

Dr. Stefan Demmerle, President and General Manager of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems declared “We are dedicated to continuously innovating our technology and improving our manufacturing processes to deliver high-quality products and services to meet the evolving needs of new energy vehicle customers”.

By August this year, 2025, one of the most powerful companies in China is expected to receive hybrid 400V high-voltage hairpin (HVH) engines from Borgwarner, for the new 200kW hybrid rear-drive platform. The 150 kW pure electric platform of a Chinese OEM leader, will also be supplied by Borgwarner engines.

A ring-shaped engine?

Ultra-Short High-Voltage Hairpin (S-HVH) is born to cover the incessant demand for electric motors in the Chinese market. Borgwarner has reduced production costs and also the size of the engines, improving their efficiency. These measures are oriented towards electric platforms of 400V and 800V.

Are the electric motors the only sustainable alternative?

Business-to-business partnerships are not confined to the electricity sector, but also cover the hydrogen fuel-cell technology. There are brands that have decided to bet on this mode of production. It is the case of Hyundai and Toyota. The effectiveness of this model has been questioned, but it is necessary to keep in mind that hydrogen technology plays a potential role in road transport and air transport companies, so its value cannot be denied. These two companies have bet and continue to do so, leading this market.

Probably we will see more collaborations oriented to cleaner production between companies, so that the choice will be in the hands of the criterion and needs of each consumer.
