After the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal Government of the United States then under the mandate of Joe Biden, launched a series of economic aid through the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). It was in 2020 when stimulus checks were launched. They aim to help the US economy by giving that boost of confidence to taxpayers. These were direct payments to tax payers, so that they could spend them and thus spin the economic wheel. Currently, due to inflation, stimulus checks are more necessary than ever, but the Trump administration has paralyzed them. The 2021 tax refund applications are still pending, but no more applications are accepted and for the moment, there is no question of reactivating this type of aid.
Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
This is the part of the United States administration responsible for collecting taxes and enforcing tax laws. Founded in 1862, it provides assistance to taxpayers, manages tax returns and collections, and carries out audits when necessary. It is one of the departments most feared (and hated) by citizens, but the truth is that it also gives some joy from time to time. When IRS notifications are related to a tax refund or an stimulus check, we all love the IRS!
Stimulus Checks
The official website of the US Department of the Treasury explains that the payment of the fake checks emerged in 2020 with the Aid Act, with the intention of relieving the economy of the beneficiaries. Payments consisted of $1,200 per adult and $500 per child under 17, as long as they were eligible. This has continued as the economic situation in the country remains volatile. With the latest tariff hike imposed by President Trump’s administration, the cost of living has increased for citizens. That is why this aid is more necessary than ever to meet their needs. However, it appears that, despite the need, payment of incentive cheques has come to an end.
Goodbye Stimulus Checks
Both the Government and the IRS have declared there won´t be any more stimulus checks. Last 15 April he closed the deadline to apply for the third incentive check. This was the last opportunity to apply for the $1,400 refund related to the 2021 tax return. Unlike other deadlines that have accepted appeals after closing, the IRS made it clear that after that date no claims would be accepted. The unclaimed money was transferred to the US Department of the Treasury.
Be aware of scams!
After the IRS deadline, scams have started to appear. If you have any questions about the payment of your check, go directly to the IRS for information.
Fourth Stimulus check is coming
To date the IRS has not made any kind of statement about a fourth check. While unofficial media and social networks are talking about a fourth check of $2,000, the reality is that the IRS has not approved any new measures. These are the savings from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). According to the President, “We are thinking of returning 20 percent to US citizens, and 20 percent to pay off the debt”. However, no new measures related to checks for citizens have been approved.
Refund dates
According to the IRS, if your application was approved before April 15, you will receive your payment between May 6 and June 16. To track your money, you will need to access “Where’s my Refund” on the IRS website or call 800-829-1054. In short, there is no longer the possibility of claiming payments since the deadlines have closed, and as far as the IRS is concerned, no declaration has been made on possible future payments. Make sure you are informed through official channels and visit the IRS website to stay up to date.
