Brittney Gaskin has carried out defective construction work in San Marcos, Texas, which has posed a danger. During the move, they realized that there was toxic mold that had directly affected their health. The Daily Mail reports that because there was no vapor barrier and no HVAC system, the mold could not be controlled. The case is currently in litigation with the builder, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recognized the health risks posed by mold. Gaskin has now posted content on TikTok to raise awareness of the problem. Read on to learn more.
What happened after finding out this
Brittney Gaskin, 38, her two children, husband, and three dogs moved into the brand new home in 2021, but were left facing some issues for their lives after finding a toxic substance in the house. Shortly after the family bought the house in San Marcos, Texas, they started experiencing health issues, according to The Daily Mail.
“My son, who was only nine at the time, told me he didn’t want to live anymore,” Gaskin told the outlet.
“We were all chronically ill. I was hospitalized multiple times. It felt hopeless.”
Preocupations were truly raised
Gaskin at some point needed to put down one of her pets when the animal showed sings of neurological problems. She raised preocupations to the home’s builder many times, explaining that she “felt like [she] was dying.” After being dismissed by the builder, the mother paid out–of–pocket for mold inspectors to check her home. Due to it, the inspector discovered that her home contained two million toxic mold spores, which far was more the allowable 500 spores per cubic meter.
“I broke down crying,” Gaskin told the Daily Mail.
“It was the first time someone validated what I’d been experiencing for months.”
What mold is able to cuase
Mold exposure is able to cause or worsen respiratory problems, neurological issues, and immune suppression, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Gaskin, who currently works as a mold-advocate influencer, explained that she bought the home right after the pandemic and wasn’t involved in the building process. After checking the home’s design, Gaskin made a startling achivement.
The mother detected that the house didn’t have a vapor barrier wrap, which is meant to prevent moisture from seeping through walls.
“That meant it wasn’t up to code and was technically considered a rebuild,” she said.
What happend when the discovery was found
Gaskin also explained she discovered the HVAC system was too big for the home, resulting in excessive condensation and high humidity. Both of those errors allowed the mold to spread, and holes in the ductwork pulled in the moldy air and want it throughout the house, Gaskin said.
Gaskin reported losing $300,000 due to the damage. She said the family had to leave their furniture, clothes, and toys behind,
How remover mold
Here are several perfect and low-cost ways to reget rid off mold from your home.
Bleach is normally all you require if you neither own nor want to buy specialised cleaning sprays and paints. If using bleach, mix four parts of water with one part of bleach. You’ll also need a stiff brush, a bucket of water with cloth, and another cloth for drying. Apply your solution to the areas that are already affected, including a few inches around the visible mold to endup with any mould not yet visible.
Other option is scrub it firmly with a strong brush. Wait as long as possible or until the mold is not vissible from sight and rinse the treated areas thoroughly. Pat dry the area and allow it to entirely dry before moving any furniture or placing items in front of it.
