The automotive world is vast, and the electric vehicle market is growing ever larger. It turns out that giants like Tesla and BYD aren’t the only players in the game; now Mahindra & Mahindra is joining the fray, entering the luxury electric vehicle market with the launch of two new SUVs: the Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6e. The automaker, initially known for its SUVs and agricultural vehicles, is revolutionizing electric mobility. The new releases will include the XUV 3XO EV, the Mahindra Vision S, the 5-door Mahindra Thar EV, and the XEV 7e.
Mahindra plans to double its electric vehicle offerings by 2028 and promises to compete with Tesla and BYD
The fact is that Mahindra announced its intention to conquer the electric vehicle market some time ago with its upcoming, and now real, projects. It has signed collaboration agreements with major partners, such as Volkswagen. Mahindra plans to double its electric vehicle offerings by 2028 and promises to compete with Tesla and BYD by offering electric vehicles with superior performance at accessible prices. What is clear is that this company is poised to unveil electric vehicles that will capture attention.
With the unveiling of its first electric SUVs, the brand has hinted at a new wave of launches that will include the presentation of the updated Mahindra XUV 700, currently undergoing testing and also slated to debut next year. Mahindra has gone all out, developing two electric models on its own INGLO platform. This next-generation mechanical base combines its experience in the field with its years of collaboration with Volkswagen.
Mahindra will undoubtedly be able to compete with Tesla’s electric vehicles
The interior design continues the minimalist style. A two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo sets the tone, while a layered instrument panel houses integrated displays. While affordability will allow Mahindra to compete with brands like BYD, it will be the performance of the new XUV 3XO EV that truly sets it apart. With an estimated range of 400 kilometers and its 35 kWh battery, this Mahindra will undoubtedly be able to compete with Tesla’s electric vehicles. Meanwhile, the XEV 9e features a triple-screen configuration with a driver’s panel, a central touchscreen, and a passenger display, each 12.3 inches. The BE 6e boasts a dual-screen setup with two 12.3-inch displays.
Continuing with the details of the launches, the Mahindra XEV 7e is under development and will feature a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and ventilated front seats. While Mahindra is quite ambitious and competes with companies like Tesla and BYD, the real reason it can compete is its adaptability. Created in collaboration with global suppliers, these electric vehicles are designed to operate in any climate or market.
Fast-charging capabilities allow for a 20% to 80% charge in 20 minutes
Mahindra has equipped the XEV 9e and BE 6e models with LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries. This is because, among other things, Mahindra’s electric vehicles are manufactured not only with Indian roads in mind, but also those of Europe and Africa. The motors offer maximum power outputs ranging from 224 hp to 278 hp. Fast-charging capabilities allow for a 20% to 80% charge in 20 minutes using a 175 kW DC fast charger. Meanwhile, the Mahindra XEV 7e offers performance comparable to Western electric vehicles. Mahindra goes beyond other electric vehicle manufacturers, offering these performance specifications at a very affordable price.
With these offerings on the market, Mahindra aims to continue expanding into global markets without barriers. The company is so confident in its development that it offers a 10-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty on its battery. The reality is that India is providing strong competition in the area of technologically advanced electric vehicles. Mahindra is setting a benchmark for all electric vehicles in Asia and, at this rate, will also do so worldwide, competing with giants like Tesla and BYD.
