Neither Walmart nor Target – Big Lots will reopen 100 stores in the U.S. next month and we now have the full list

Your favorite store may reopen soon in your city. Founded in 1967, Big Lots is a famous US-wide furniture and home appliances retailer. Based in Columbus, it had more than 900 establishments throughout the country. In the last quarter of 2024, the retail chain was bought by Variety Wholesalers after a fateful quarter. The company, well-known for its competitive prices, did not bear the consequences of inflation, the slow down of the real estate market and the changes in consumer trends. After the hard blow, the company was bought and after several months without news, they have decided to give it a second chance and reopen several establishments.

New shops

There are 9 states that will have Big Lots back in their cities, with ambitious plans for their return to the market. The number of Big Lots stores open is expected to reach 129 before the end of the year. 100 of them have already been opened in April and 132 in May. Other chains such as Bargain Town and Roses Discount also operate under the orders of Variety Wholesalers, which has bought old Big Lots stores to reform them, forming part of the brand’s new era.
