Some for the kitchen, others for the bathroom, others to remove grease, others to clean the windows, wood, oven… it’s an endless list! And not only that, but the great variety of smells, often strong and annoying. In addition, we must not forget the presence of chemicals harmful to our health, that of babies and also of our pets. If only there was a good and cheap product that would serve for everything…wait, it exists!

Natural ingredients

There is a homemade mixture based on natural ingredients that are respectful and not harmful to humans or pets. Besides, it is a cheap product, easy to manufacture and customizable, since you can choose the smell. The combination of these ingredients results in a product incredibly effective, removes fat, disinfectant, odor neutralizer and environmentally friendly. For its elaboration you must have the following ingredients:

  • White vinegar. It is the basis of its disinfectant and antibacterial function thanks to its acidity. It eliminates fats and residues in taps.
  • Baking soda. Perfect for marble, ceramic or stainless steel surfaces, its natural deodorizing properties will end with those unpleasant odors that sometimes are installed in our bathrooms or kitchens. The effervescence that generates together with the vinegar descales the dirt perfectly.
  • Lemon juice to combat stains, such as grease remover and surface polish and antibacterial. Its fresh smell gives the house an immediate feeling of cleanliness.
  • Ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. It acts as a disinfectant and dries quickly without leaving marks.
  • Essential oils. With them you give your personal touch to the mixture, bringing your favorite smell. Other, many of them have antiseptic, anti-fungal and insect-repellent properties, such as the tea tree, eucalyptus or lavender.

How to prepare it

To make this magnificent product you just have to gather the ingredients mentioned and mix them in the following proportions; a cup of ethyl or isopropyl alcohol (disinfection and elimination of bad odors), a cup of water to balance the formula, 2 tablespoons sodium bicarbonate (cleaner), lemon juice (freshness, shine and antibacterial), between 15 and 20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Ready? Let´s get started:

  1. In a large bowl, pour the white vinegar and squeeze out the juice and lemon. This is the disinfectant base of our product, and the citrusy arome will soften the smell of vinegar.
  2. Add the two tablespoons of baking soda gradually and let it pass for a few seconds until the effervescent reaction goes down.
  3. Add a cup of alcohol. You can use 70% ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, and a cup of water to soften the mixture.
  4. Finally, add 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix everything very well, pour into a bottle with atomizer and shake before each use.
  5. And that’s it! You have your homemade natural cleaner!
