Neither Siri nor Alexa - Jake the Rizzbot, Texas' most charismatic cowboy robot, conquers Austin with surreal compliments

If you see a robot on the street wearing a cowboy hat, you’re in Texas. Jake the Rizzbot is making waves in the state and on social media. Jake is a Unitree G1 humanoid agent AI avatar, priced at over $16,000. The robot is intended to serve as an “AI avatar” that is developed “based on deep reinforcement learning and simulation training,” according to the company’s website.

The avatar features a depth camera and a spatial sensor that allows it to view its surroundings

The 1.2 meter, 34 kilogram robot has between 23 and 43 joint motors, allowing it to move its limbs, torso, and head in a human-like manner. The avatar features a depth camera and a spatial sensor that allows it to view its surroundings. And with an 8-core CPU -generally required for professional gaming, professional video editing, and 3D rendering, according to HP- the robot has great battery life. Its battery lasts approximately two hours.

Jake’s handler has not been identified

The G1 humanoid agent AI avatar requires a manual operator, according to Unitree’s website, but Jake’s handler has not been identified. A TikTok account with the username “Rizzbot Official” has posted a few videos of “Jake the Rizzbot” interacting with the camera, but it’s unknown who’s operating it. Thanks to the latest robotic technology, Jake can strut down the sidewalk greeting his fellow Texans, or “homies,” as he likes to call them.

Jake’s battery allows him to run for two hours

With his 40-liter can, hat, silver chain, and Nike sneakers, Jake doesn’t go unnoticed, roaming the streets, dominating the scene. And suddenly, there’s Jake, the enthusiastic cowboy, running around and making new friends. And he can’t stay out for long: Jake’s battery allows him to run for two hours before needing to be plugged in to recharge, as said before.

Jake: “Dude, that beard is cold and that mustache is tough”

Probably just when you thought nothing could surprise you anymore, Jake the Rizzbot arrives. Considering its price, the person who bought it must be someone passionate about technology, since so far, from what we’ve seen, Jake only appears on the street to entertain passersby. That, or he’s someone with no money limits who simply wants to try something different and have fun.

“Dude, that beard is cold and that mustache is tough. You look clean, dude,” the robot says in a video that has racked up more than 33,000 likes on Instagram. The robot has the soul of a friendly, outgoing humanoid cowboy. He doles out compliments to anyone who wants to chat. “Hey, G! That white cap is crisp and that logo shines! Stay strong!” Jake exclaims in a video posted by Jesse Hernandez on Instagram.

“Combined with hybrid force-position control, it is sensitive and reliable”

On Unitree’s official website, they boast that this model is much more flexible and comfortable. They emphasize that it has a wide range of joint movement, with 23-43 joint motors. They add that the robotic technology, powered by AI, is updated and evolving daily. “Combined with hybrid force-position control, it is sensitive and reliable, and can simulate the human hand to operate objects precisely. UnifoLM (Unitree Robot Unified Large Model) creates a new era of intelligence,” they detail on the official website.

The surprise in Austin, Texas has been huge, we’ll have to keep an eye out for future guest appearances by Jake the Rizzbot, but for now, it seems there’s a new sheriff in town.
