If you are planning to make a route to overcome your limits and get ap rubea, you should read this article first.
What was planned as a simple mountain excursion turned into a 10-day nightmare for 18-year-old Chinese boy Sun Liang.
After entering the icy mountains of Ao-Tai Pass in the Qinling range of Shaanxi, China, located at more than 2,500 meters above sea level, the young man disappeared for 10 days, without any kind of living, means of communication or shelter. After surviving on toothpaste, river water and snowballs, and with a broken arm, the young man managed to find help by following the trail of a fire that had been lit by the rescue team. After $10,000 spent by his family, Liang returned home safe and sound and recommends not to venture into these dangerous and cold mountains.
Sun Liang’s excursion
18-year-old Sun Liang decided to plan an excursion that would test him and challenge his limits. Chose to climb the mountains of Ao-Tai Pass in the Qinling mountain range of Shaanxi, in the northwest of China. He did not take into account factors such as climatic conditions, since these mountains were completely frozen, and neither the difficulty, because it has a height of 2,500 meters above sea level. What was originally a walk to clear and get in touch with nature became a maze without exit two hours after starting, when their mobile devices stopped working, leaving him to his fate.
The situation gets worse
After several hours lost in the most dangerous mountains of China, the young man is still looking for a way out or someone to help him. In view of the failure, he decides to feed on snowballs, toothpaste that he carried with him and drink water from the river. In addition, to get some rest and recharge some energy to continue his search for help, he makes a kind of bed with dry leaves that he finds on his way.
As if fear, despair and cold were not enough, Liang slips and suffers several falls, even breaking an arm.
Is there hope?
As the days passed without help, food and medical care, the young man’s hopes faded. Wandering through a region that stretches up to 170 km, Liang understood that it had not been a good idea. What he did not know was that in 2018, these trails had been closed, since 50 hikers had failed to get out of them, being declared missing or having died on the summits, in the last 20 years.
Light at the end of the tunnel
After 10 days, the miracle occurred on 17 February. Sun Liang’s family, after alerting the authorities to his son’s disappearance, invested $10,000 in rescue funds to find him. With a group of 30 people, they searched the area for any trace of young Sun.
Suddenly, the smell of a campfire gave hope to the young hiker. Members of the rescue team lit it so that the smell would point to Sun, and so it was.
Happy ending
After 10 days adrift without eating, drinking or sleeping properly, the young man was finally able to embrace his family. After 10 days adrift without eating, drinking or sleeping properly, the young man was finally able to embrace his family.
Terror is the word I use to describe his nightmarish adventure from which he miraculously survived, unlike many others. His family thanked infinitely the rescue team that participated in the search, and young Liang, after declaring that “I didn’t know Ao-Tai was off-limits. I came here just to challenge myself” he urged the population not to go into those mountains.
After all, this story had a good ending and life gave him a second chance, but it has to serve as an apprenticeship for the rest of people.
